About Care Eligibility

We help families find the state rule behind a long-term care question, then check the agency source for themselves.

What this site does

Care Eligibility explains public Medicaid long-term-care guidance in everyday language. Our first guides cover California Medi-Cal. Arizona ALTCS and Texas Medicaid guides will follow after their source and editorial checks.

Each guide answers one question, names the program and effective date, links to the agency source, and shows when we checked it. The goal is to help you ask a better question and find the official next step.

Who publishes it

Care Eligibility is published by Gavin Woodward.

Care Eligibility is independent of the state agencies it cites. It is not a government site or a law firm. A link to an agency does not mean that agency has reviewed or endorsed our writing.

How we handle corrections

Rules change. We check primary agency guidance before publishing a guide and show its check date. If an agency changes a rule or we find an error, we review the affected page and correct it. Our editorial policy explains that process.

For a decision about your own family member, start with the state agency or county office linked on the relevant guide. Read the educational-information notice.
